In 1832, Auguste Agasi of Switzerland started a watch business in Saint-Imier, which was then continued by his nephew Ernest Francillon, who opened a watch factory in LesLongines, Switzerland, in 1866. 1867 saw the establishment of Francillon's "Longines" company. In 1867, Francillon's "Longines" company was founded and the Longines brand was born, with the launch of the first Longines model, the L20A, in the same year. 1867 onwards, every Longines watch was engraved with a winged hourglass.
