For over five decades, the El Primero movement has been celebrated as one of the most significant automatic chronograph calibers ever created. Now, Zenith is reimagining this iconic movement in a new light with the Chronomaster Solo Sport, marking the first time-only application within the Chronomaster collection. By stripping away the chronograph complications, Zenith highlights the movement's high-frequency beating heart, offering a watch that is both elegant and sporty.

Design and Case Details

The Chronomaster Solo Sport features a 40mm stainless steel case, positioning it comfortably between the 37mm vintage-inspired models and the 41mm chronograph sports versions. The case is equipped with a unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel, a nod to its sporty character. The dial is where the Solo Sport truly stands out, featuring a new 'Z' pattern that is engraved on either a sunray-finished white ceramic dial or polished black or brown ceramic surfaces. The black version is also available without a date window, bringing the total to four distinct references.

The 'Z' motif is echoed on the seconds hand, while the minute track adopts a 'shark tooth' design at the periphery, a style inspired by historical Zenith references. This angular detailing provides a striking contrast to the smooth curves of the case and the three-link bracelet, creating a visually cohesive and modern aesthetic.

Bracelet and Clasp Innovation

Each Solo Sport is fitted with a new Zenclasp folding clasp, which made its debut earlier this year. This clasp is designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. Its ergonomic, rounded lines ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist, while the safety-lock system and integrated micro-adjustment mechanism allow for tool-free resizing. The clasp offers 2.5mm increments with a total extension range of 10mm, making it easy to achieve the perfect fit at any time.

The Heart: El Primero Caliber 3620

Powering the Solo Sport is the El Primero Caliber 3620, an automatic manufacture movement that operates at 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), preserving the high-frequency signature that has defined the El Primero since its inception. The movement features modern upgrades, including a silicon escapement, a stop-second mechanism, and a bi-directional winding system with a star-shaped rotor, ensuring precision and reliability.
