Grand Seiko has unveiled a significant update to its Evolution 9 collection, comprising nine new references that refine existing models rather than introduce entirely new designs. The refresh focuses on three key areas: case material upgrades, bracelet redesign, and movement enhancements. These changes address long-standing collector requests and elevate the wearer experience.

Ever Brilliant Steel: A Brighter, More Resilient Choice

All stainless steel models in the refresh have been upgraded to Grand Seiko's Ever Brilliant Steel, an alloy with nearly double the corrosion resistance of standard steel and a brighter luster. This material upgrade applies to models like the White Birch and Genbi Valley, while titanium models continue to use high-intensity titanium for its lightweight and durability.

Redesigned Bracelet with Taper and Micro-Adjust

A major highlight is the introduction of the redesigned bracelet, first seen on the 37mm SLGB003, now available on 40mm models. The new bracelet features a classic taper from 22mm to 18mm (40mm cases) or 21mm to 17mm (37mm cases) and includes a micro-adjust clasp for a perfect fit. This addresses a common request from enthusiasts for improved comfort and adjustability.

Movement Upgrades: Precision and Power

The high-beat models continue with the 9SA5 caliber, celebrated for its 80-hour power reserve and dual-impulse escapement. The Spring Drive models, however, now feature the new 9RB2 movement, which offers remarkable accuracy of ±20 seconds per year—six times more precise than the previous 9RA2. While the 9RB2 reduces power reserve to 3 days (from 5 days), the increased accuracy is a trade-off many will appreciate.

Dial Variations: Subtle Yet Distinct

The refresh introduces new dial colors and patterns. The 'Genbi Valley' returns in a light blue-green hue, distinct from the limited edition's light green. A new 'Moonlit Lake Suwa' (SLGB007) features a dynamic black dial, while the Lake Suwa blue is now a lighter shade. These variations offer fresh aesthetics while maintaining the iconic textures and patterns Grand Seiko is known for.

Prices range from ,200 for Ever Brilliant Steel models to ,400 for high-intensity titanium versions. Pre-orders are open now, with deliveries starting September 2026 for Lake Suwa and Atera Blue models, and October 2026 for Birch dials. The previous versions will be discontinued as stock depletes.
